This December I'll reach age 63. I started in my early teens with a khukri, given to me as a gift by my parents. For some time now, I'm very into the Indonesian keris -- a lifelong love of mine, but... |

Hi Gene I'm glad that these are just old corrosion pits. Vice marks (as well as file/grinding marks) are very nasty on an otherwise fine old keris blade. Congratulations on this piece! Best... |

I fully agree with you, David. It's solely the blade that counts for me. The fittings may be outstanding, but this blade really doesn't make it for me -- in any event, I wouldn't have bought this... |

I usually use 1 l water and 4 dl vinegar, so the solution is not too aggressive. |

Thank you, Michael. This answers an old question of mine when looking at Flambergs in museums and comparing them with my kerises (although these two types of edged weapons cannot be compared in any... |

Dan, we are in the same situation. Nobody cares about my "great" keris collection except myself. And I'm an older man. I still hope that I can hook my son one day ... |

Hello Michael, first of all sorry for my ignorance. I'm a collector of the Indonesian kerises which are very often wavy. While I know that the kerises were forged just this way -- wavy --, I have not... |

Hi Dan, fine that you cleaned your blade from that rust; this was my most concern about your keris. Regarding the hilt, if you really like it just keep it, because you are the only one who needs to... |

Hi Dan, I really appreciate you for giving those seemingly "unwanted" kerises a home. They certainly deserve it! My suggestion: Just clean the blade from any rust and -- if you can -- replace the... |

Hello Lee IMO two pieces are Indonesian keris (M12 from Madura, M15 from Surakarta). M14 is a wavy dagger of other origin -- maybe from the Philippines? Regards, Heinz |

Hello Michel I agree with Detlef: Carita Keprabon, pamor Wos Wutah. The ganja might have been replaced. In any event, in my opinion it's a very nice keris -- congratulations! Regards, Heinz |

Hello Semar Yes, I believe you that these "notches" are original to your keris. I'm afraid that nobody here can give you a dapur name. This may be frustrating. I have several odd and probably quite... |

Hello Semar An interesting piece! Unfortunately I have no idea of the dapur, too; I cannot find it in any of my reference books. I see a blumbangan, tikel alis, greneng, a ganja iras (?) -- and I... |

I fully agree with Alan and Jean: The printing quality and the paper quality of the book "Dhapur" is poor. In my copy two pages are duplicated and two pages are misplaced, but no pages are missing.... |
