Identification of Indian or African ivory object.

This is 10.5cm tall and has a lot of age. I assume the holes are for looping through string. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dayak hornbill identification. What is it?

I know that this is dayak and made of hornbill but I can't work out what it actually is. These are usually earrings and have the bent over top and no hole. Can anyone help please?
