That is a very small tooth for the Spermacetti Whale . Possibly from an immature one; also possibly a smaller toothed whale . :shrug: Yes, carving work like this often was accented with lime . |

Possibly one might apply a very tiny drop of say, acrylic artist's paint or some substance that will leave a mark to the center of one part . Then carefully and very lightly press the parts together... |

I tend to agree with mahratt; this was not an expensive dagger when new so I doubt it would warrant ivory scales . :shrug: |
