I am curious about what is covering the copper in the first place that upon cleaning revealed the copper underneath.

Strange repair to shamshir cross guard - Advice needed

Hi everyone. I received a battered shamshir. Upon cleaning the crossguard I found a part of the guard is copper, an old repair. Superficially the copper was covered with some (metal ?) material....

Mameluke with shamshir blade

Hi every one. Can someone kindly ID this mameluke. The blade is high quality wootz probably persian/ottoman. However I am not sure what kind/era/region mameluke is it. Also it is missing some filling...

Persian shamshir in need of restoration

Hi everyone. I got a persian shamshir with an Assadullah mark not so long ago. The shamshir was in a terrible state and hence got it at a bargain price.

I intended to restore it and couldn't...
