Are the spacers between handle scales stained leather? If it is, it's quite uncommon construction for Bedouin/Arab dagger. This is why I thought it was African.

I do not know how this came about. surely, some collectors have their ways and terminology "preferences":), but traditionally, Kilij signifies the blade with yelman, not any blade with pistol grip....

Wootz is refferred as Bulat in Russian. I am not sure of definition of Bulat related to wootz, but in terms of clasical wootz - i'd not call this blade as such. I know some people would call wootz...
