It probably is a tawara from Celebes (see: Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago, page 143). The hair, usually goat's hair, should not run op to the point, but should stop about half way...

The lower one is a look alike, but the upper one looks a bit different from the examples of D.A. Henkel, especially the hilt.

They do look a bit like a type of Nias spear, but yet are different.
Maybe the Asian mainland?

I think, it is not type B. The dancing shields ususally are more elaborate. I guess, type C or D are...

Question Strange one

This is a strange one in my collection.
Extremely simple.
Roughly made.
No rattan bindings.
But it certainly has age!
I am puzzled. Has anyone seen an specimen like this before?
