Don't know where it's from, but I love the barrel. A lot of attention to detail. Imagine, what it looked like when it was made.

Thanks for the input. Hopefully, we can get to the bottom of this. The thumb rest is not only found on Spanish swords. They are also on Italian, Portuguese, British Pattern 1908, and, the US "Patton"...

Naval Cutlass?

Mods: I have exhausted every avenue of western, and or European ID on this weapon. I bought it in hopes that it may be an unknown Confederate variant. The majority believe it to be Mexican, or...

In the middle east, markings have nothing to do with mfg. Yes, the font of the maker name looks modern. That doesn't mean it's not an English made gun. I've seen several Royal Afghan mfg. rifles,...

It appears to be an all English made gun, with locally added embellishments. I'm just learning these, so can't help with the region of origin. Styles seem to overlap from culture, to culture, so...

I know nothing of these guns 'cept, I want one! Very nice. You seldom see guns from that area come up for sale. Love the coffee table also. What kind of wood is that, Olive?

Interesting piece. The hilt style, is vaguely similar to an English 1853 pattern. What part of LA do you live in? I'm in Alexandria, and set up at most of the gun shows in the state. Maybe our paths...

Over the years, I've noticed a shield, or house shaped indentation, on the breach area of guns form the Near, and Middle East. Even as far as India. The indentation is usually about 3/8" tall, 1/4"...
