VOC blades were usually dated and I believe 1759 is the date when the blade was made.
I assume it was mounted in the Kastane at a later date, but still sometime in the 18th...

It may be the case that the blade is wootz. Maybe it is worth checking.

The blade is almost certainly North Indian and I believethe hilt and scabbard were replaced.

Question Modern wootz fakes... or not?!

I have noticed recently a rather unusual abundance of "antique" mostly Turkish, but also Persian and Indian, wootz swords in pristine condition that would make the most prestigious museums envious....

For cleaning/de-greasing a blade, white spirit and occasionally aceton are much more effective than alcohol as they effectively dissolve and remove all types of grease and wax.
