Would the threads be hand made during the early 20c or machine made? 19c threads were usually hand made, meaning some slight imperfections.

IMHO the gold from koftgari is so thin that it is not worth the effort. I would even question digging out gold inlay as well.

I've not engraved into wootz but into pattern...

I've not engraved into wootz but into pattern welded steel. When I hit a harder steel in the pattern, the engraving gets more difficult.

Wootz is much smaller and so I'm not sure, though I can...
