Thank you, Shakethetrees!

I have been told by Battara to stop right where I am. I agree; I don't want to ruin it by over-processing it.

Thank you for the Info; I have other blades that might be nickel plated.

I sanded the blade with rough, then fine, then very fine, then tried etching it with FeCl. This is the result I don't know if I'm looking at laminations or at partly-removed nickel plating. The...

African knife with copper (?) blade. Info requested!

Yep, from that swap meet again... a little (11 inches full length, blade 7 1/2 inches) knife, one side with fine serrations, the other side quite sharp. Good forging, with a double medial ridge. Very...

New Barung... Chromed? Help!

Got two barungs at my lucky swap meet. This is the bigger one, blade length 17 inches, full length 23 1/2 inches, a hefty blade. It has a nice ring when tapped. The handle is simple, but looks like...

Kuba dagger from swap meet

I found this today for the cost of a fancy dinner for me and my wife. Does anybody know the age? The handle is detailed with very fine ornamentation. It looks like small nails.

The heart of a dagger is the blade

And this is one of the best-shaped jambiya blades I have seen. The usual ones that look like a boomerang may be classic, but they don't seem functional like this one, perfectly curved and shaped for...

New Kard... etch #1

I worked on this quite a bit, strictly surface work; scrubbies, aluminum foil crumpled, #1500 paper. Not enough to get the spots near the point, but enough to get through the crud of centuries.

I...

About a month ago I acquired a kard that I had been coveting for three years. I'm afraid that in my pride at having found something that I really liked I came across as knowing it all. The truth is,...

My favorite style!

Simple, beautiful, and functional. My favorite type of dagger. Can be used to cut rope, meat, anything that needs cutting... and an excellent weapon as well.

This is the Kard I was looking for

I first saw this kard two years ago and wanted to buy it but didn't have the funds. Last year I came back to Jaipur and saw it again, but my bank card wouldn't let me get it then either.

And now for something completely simple...

The wood is Pink Ivory wood, one of the rarest woods in the world, and incredibly dense. I took the wood to Bali and had a good carver make this.
