Après le "Qui est Qui de l'Arme en France" I think, the gunmaker was Jean Baptiste MAZELIER 1726-1760. It was Perre Lepage who was apprentice at him between 1726 and 1730.

A foto of the gunmaker's signature would help a lot, because there is no "MARDIER" in France, but lots of "MERCIER"s and other names that could be possible.

Many thanks for this help. It is interesting to learn that such type of guns have been obviuosly and actually in use during the 18. century. But the ammunition or the grenade used is still a mystery...

A friend of mine owns this special sword with a SAHAGUM blade and a flintlock pistol. The blade might IMHO be much older than the pistol and so comments are invited.
