thanks jim, this is an officers weapon, marked 16LD, then B17. I just don,t think that an officers sword would be so marked with what i think is a rack number,I have also found the mark on the guard....

hi the pattern 1796 light cavalry sabre was still in use with some yeomanry regiments up until the early1860,s. it just maybe that the blade needed to be renewed but to keep uniform the older guard...

1803 pattern sword and one other

hi, just picked up two swords, the first is the 1803 pattern grenadier company sword by jj runkel with solingen blade. the second sword is by osborn & gunby who i understand worked together from 1805...
