Mysterious pair of pistols

Hi everybody, I recently bought a fine pair of flintlock pistols which, judging by the engraved crest on the escutcheons, originally belonged to an Earl of Lauderdale. The silver hallmark date 1721...

With ref. to post 16, the painting is a portrait of a knight of the Rehlinger family, done in 1540 by Master LS and now residing in Berlin. Following that how about this portrait of the Marquess of...

Just by the way, "no" is an abbreviation of "numero" (from Latin 'numerus') and is used in many, probably most, European languages not only Dutch to indicate 'number'. Apologies if that is a bit...

Seeing these splendid photos of Lansquenet's superb German all-steel pistol prompts me to offer photos of my variation on the all-steel theme, an early belt snaphaunce from the east coast of...

Because the crab-claw hilt is definitely an Italian design I would suppose that the CAINO blade on my sword is a genuine Italian blade rather than a Solingen import. But nothing is ever 100% certain...

Not much help with information, I'm afraid, but here is my small contribution, another example - a 17th century crab-claw broadsword stamped CAINO in the fuller on both sides of the blade, marked...

I can't say anything about the blade, but I am afraid the hilt is definitely replica, or to be more blunt, fake. The pommel is a brazil-nut shape, used in the 12th century in Germany and N. Europe...

Looks like a standard holster pistol of the early 18th century. Could the initials stand for a Guard unit with an initial G, and the 42 as a rack number? We need someone who knows about military...

I have seen swords, from two-handers to slim rapiers, with flamboyant blades all the way but never a sword that was half flamboyant and half straight. I would say very rare, and Portuguese at that! ...

Definitely an interesting sword. I would say Scots or English basket hilt broadsword from mid 18th century. Could easily have changed hands several times in the wars!

I agree with Casey and Ulfberth. The blade looks right and the mark is correct for Christoph Stantler - being well-struck is not cause for suspicion. The guard is of the correct style for a Munich...
