The katar arrived today. I gave it a light cleaning and etched the fullers. A lovely wootz pattern popped. The katar itself is super high quality and beefy with a wide grip even for my large hands...

I really can't make out any discernible pattern in the steel :shrug:. As far as both of your daggers having issues with fit at the hilt it just is a sign of poor fit and finish often seen...

The hilt on zande is ivory the dagger is circa 1920s. Yes it could have been used as an arm dagger or carried on the waist. Your the blade does not looked forged so I would say 1930-40 but...
