Gentlemen,

The form of the blade and chiseled motifs, fullering and the shape of the grip all support a mid-late 15th century Ottoman attribution. I wish the pic was clearer; the motifs...

Cthulhu's observation is a good one. By the latter Qajar Dynasty, more complex construction, and by extension, imagery, usually preceded simpler work. This was driven largely by expense: if a...

In the second photo from the top, there is a tugra visible on the upper langet of the guard (on the grip side.) They were used as silver marks in that context.

It isn't a date. This is a short Arabic inscription which appears to read, YA FALAH! (O Success!) Very nice saber, probably dates to the latter 18th century.

This is Northern Indian work, with a lot of stylistic juxtaposition. It's hilted in the Persian style but with more Central Asian-type leather-covered wooden grips. The blade has both Persian (lack...

The size of the weapon and the type of embellishment indicate Daghestan workmanship. It could have been made there or in Tbilsi. The date is either 1324 or 1326, the terminal digit is not clear. In...
