Archaic kris for comment

I got this from a Cebu-based (in Visayas area, Philippines) family with Moro lineage. 20.3in blade length, hilt pommel didn't seem broken (seemed like it was made that way, no junggayan crest)....

I'm not that well-versed in metallurgy, Kai- but to clarify, isn't monosteel simply defined as one layer of steel? For example, stolen railroad tracks- 1084 steel, if I researched correctly- was...

Kai, here's the gangya pic. The blade measure from the base of the gangya is 20 inches long. It's monosteel, very light, and flexible. The fuller is wide and...

Hybrid kris for comment

Just got this kris with a Luzon animal horn hilt. Open to comments and analyses. My initial assessment is that it's a late 1800s kris blade that was re-hilted in Luzon sometime during the American...

Lumad artifacts

Hi, just sharing 2 artifacts, likely pre-WW2: a shaman's talisman (the tiger bell in a necklace; it doesn't ring because it contains objects) and a brass-hilted sanggi with attached bells. Artifacts...

So far the smallest old barung I've held is 10in blade, which would fit the size of the barungs in that picture.

With regard to modern blades, there are Sulu barungs that go for as small as...
