it looks bad, but I have seen some amazing restorations done by professional japanese blade polishers to blades in worse condition. I wonder what this would look like given a traditional polish.

Thank you very much for letting us know, Miguel. It's most definitely not worth the risk to pick up a couple of balisongs if there is a ban in place.
