The wireworks on the 'selut and mendak' also leans towards minang..
The blade I would prefer to call it a 'bahari' of Sumatran origin.....

I agree with David on these... the wood seems to be made from 'kemuning' (murayya pinaculata). Lovely sheath, btw.. ;)

I see.. I'm mistaken then.. :o thanks for the clarification.. :D sometimes it may take a few attempt before it get loosen.. but normally, I won't force it out, risk breaking the hilt..;)
