I suspect that many of these were longer once...

As Don, said, i would also say ive never seen anything like this..... ;) The scabbard throat, chape, and the hilt and fittings are all in the Nejdi manner, a "Gurda" ;) the blade...

Interesting topic. Strange thing is that this word has also been passed to Arabic, specifically the Nejdi dialect, in which it is used to name a straight bladed sword, Gurda.

I was there back in 2004. They did have a huge and impressive collection of swords, but unfortunately, they are not well cared for, and the displays are abysmal. :mad:

As to that sword, and this style of arab sword especially, I always believed that this style is an import into arabia, I wouldnt think that it goes back any further...
