Cleaning
Thanks Detlef,
Will get round to the cleaning this one, though I must confess I've also neglected some others in the keris cupboard that's due for some cleaning :o

Keris Luk 7 Riau Restoration
I had the good fortune of acquiring this from a fellow forumite some months ago.
Upon inspection it has an interesting composite hulu jawa demam of really old kemuning, somewhat upright, with a...

Blade Material
I'm interested in the blade material. I've seen it in a lot of Bugis pieces as the iron has a rather silvery colour rather than the greyish tinge or approaching black hue found on other blades...

Interesting keris
I think this is a rare find. It's far easier to see pandai saras, carita and tok chu blades but something with this kind of central fuller rarely surfaces among collectors. As someone used to say to...

Wonderful stuff, hope I'll get the chance to snap a few of these kerises on my next visit (not easy to linger when you have a wife hell bent on dragging you back to Orchard Road and a four year old...

Stealth needed?
Hi Blu,
The pictures got me wondering how you managed to pull it off. The staff gave me a stern look when I tried to snap pictures of 'Si Ginje' and the golden crown of Siak during the 'Sumatra -...

Closer Look
Dear Penangsang,
I think you're referring to Kampung Chenok (in Thai 'Chana') which is actually located very near Songkhla (Malay 'Singgora').
I know this place as the home of the famous Keris...

Bugis for Comments
I've recently acquired this keris which looks like a Straits Bugis keris by way of Kelantan. It does have a diamond section blade, though the fittings are probably somewhat more recent.
I was...

Reading of inscription
It is Malay in Jawi script.
My suggested reading is "Datuk Bendahara Pahang, Hadiah, Allah Selamatkan yang menyimpan"
I'm guessing it means (from the) Datuk Bendahara of Pahang, A Gift, God...

Staining
Thanks Gustav, like a compass needle, the blade does look better pointing north. Sajen, I rather like the patina of the blade at the moment, so I will probably go as far as cleaning it with some lime...

Attempted Readings
Hi RSWORD
I've looked hard at the inscriptions and i think they're a bit miniscule, but anyway, I think one of it reads 'Wa Huwa Samiiun Aliim' And He (God) is All Hearing and All Knowing.
One...

Hi
The words are in Arabic. I'm guessing that the first is 'silah' which means weapon, and the last 'lil aduw' which means for the enemy?
I can't read the middle word. For further help, I guess...

Take care and keep safe. A very wise man once said "all we are saying, let's give peace a chance." I hope more people would actually listen to him.
