nimcha and manding (?) sword...at Eurodisney
6 Attachment(s)
...yes, really! Wallhangers in Le Passage Enchanté d'Aladdin at Eurodisney. A Nimcha, a Koummya and a mysterious broadsword - Manding, going by the scabbard. I've never seen one with a hilt like this before - not sure if it was sheet metal or wood.

Catchy stuff!
Really hard to tell much from the photos, but yes, that is a Moroccan sa'if (nimcha) type sword with a bizarre harlequin looking material covering the scabbard. The koummya is most likely 'another koummya style dagger', the broadsword is a hilt style known from Sierra Leone and West African regions that seems to have diffused east, the scabbard is as noted of Manding style work, and these usually had the familiar kaskara or takouba form DE blades. Souk stuff, but certainly does look interesting for effect ! :) Best regards, Jim |
"...bizarre harlequin looking material covering the scabbard" appears to be wood inlaid with shell or bone
Thanks for your observations - no chance of me seeing the blades, unfortunately  I suppose the Nimcha is to France what the Tulwar is to the UK... |
