Whale Bone Kampilan
7 Attachment(s)
A recent pickup. The pommel is carved out of one piece of whale bone, not a, two pieces of slabs put together.
Enjoy. |
Wow kino, i am enjoying. Frankly, i've never really been all that drawn to kamps, but this one is just beautiful. Nice score! :)

|
Nice quality bone! IS this a newer piece?
|
That's the most awsomest Kamp. I have ever seen. I sold off all my ethnographic stuff 7 or 8 years ago. I had one Kampilan. As far as blade quality, the only blades I have ever seen that are better in forging, and finish, are Japanese! I judge the surface of a blade by reflective light. Look down one, and see the ripples. That Kamp. had none. I've found the best light to use, is a television, in the dark. You see EVERYTHING. M.P.

:) :) :) battara, highly doubt this kampy is new. the looks still conforms with the older kampys. newer ones (1940's on up) tend to have rounder edges, the one i call kampy V 2.0. kinda like an evolution from the older ones.. of course, it's just a theory.. the scabbard might be later tho |
