Inscription on Indian musket
3 Attachment(s)
Would somebody be able to read and translate this inscription, on the stock of an Indian "Torador" musket?
Could it be the maker's name or even te owner's name? I couldn't take better pictures ... that's why i post three tests  Thanks for any help. Fernando |
Translation
Fernando,
From what I can make of it, the inscription reads: Num. 2022 Seedhee Seedhee in Hindi means 'Straight' |
Nidhin,
Very nicely done - although I could only read the numbers:). They are very nicely written. |
Thank you ever so much Nidhin ... you are great
Now i have to find out what do they mean with the word straight ... probably referring to the format of the musket ?? When i get home, with better conditions, i will take some decent pictures and post the whole musket in either this or a new thread, for the apreciation of the members who like these things. Maybe some of them know the meanning for "straight". Again many thanks for your immediate and precious help :) Fernando |
"Straight"
Hello Fernando,
My opinion would be "straight" refering to the way it shoots rather than the style, I would consider the style to be a visual given, but the rifles abilty to fire straight an unknown until it has been tested and marked so, as many old rifles would not always fire dead straight. Just a thought... Gav |
