Here's a nice photo taken by a German expedition that visited Southern Arabia to witness a solar eclipse around the turn of the century.

Interesting, carried to display a certain male pride.

Any pictures of people wearing a Gusbi Jambiya Dagger from Hadramout, Yemen?

Thanks for the pictures Kahnjar1. I'll take a look at my Elgoods. Somehow I thought the guys would be dressed like sheiks.

I think that I'll make a post with my Jambiya and add in these pictures.

I would wager the men in the photos are all sheikhs, of one of the various small and semi nomadic tribes in the area that became the British Protectorates. Maybe Qa'iti or Yafa area. The British outlawed the wearing of the Jambiya in Aden and Indian styles came into favor with the South Arabians, perhaps contributing to the disappearance of this style, while the North Yemen type seems to be worn everywhere nowadays.

Yes its very likely that the gents are from a British administered area, as the rifles shown are British Lee Enfield rifles.
Stuart :)
