Nice Knobkerrie on Ebay

This just ended.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-Zulu-Kno...QQcmdZViewItem My question is that I noticed the top of the head has a circle carved into it and I have only seen this in the offset type clubs. Can this one be offset it really seems to be a more standard centered shafted club but I can't be sure? Lew |
Nice head whacker.
By the little experiment I have done here it does seem to be a central halft with a interesting ball. The weight of the off set ball should be subject to the law of gravity  :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ppy/TAT076.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ppy/TAT077.jpg |
Thanks Tim!

Well the knobkerrie arrived today and it is a central hafted club and I love it. The club is very well made and has a drop dead gorgeous old patina which looks much better in person than in the photo. It is heavy yet very well balanced. I will post a better picture of it tomorrow. What I find interesting is the concave circle at the top of the head. You tend to see this characteristic on more of the offset type knoberries. I have heard that the Zulu would put some type of fat or oil in this circle and the oils would penetrate the wood so to keep it from drying out and splitting?
