hi guys..!
i ask in an other thread ( armourer marks) because the sword , what is it? it is an straight bladed indian sword with these two stamps ( katar and an trident). the blade is single edged , very sturdy an heavy without an ricasso. the hilt is the typicaly khanda hilt, thik overlaid with silver. i think these sword is very unpracticable for the fight in an battle. iīm an strong man and i canīt believe that i can fight more than some minutes with such an heavy and slowly sword. it weight nearby 1400gr. and i think it have not such an good balance in the hand. the blade measure 82 cm, the length over all is 101cm. i hope someone can tell me more over these kind of swords!! |
Hi Dralin.
have you tried holding the sword two-handed ? The pommel 'spike' is generally believed to be an extension to the hilt to allow the left hand to help control the sword when necessary. I have a Tulwar with the same markings, here are comments about these markings.... http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...=trident+katar My Tulwar with the same markings http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ghlight=tulwar Hope this helps Regards David |
