Hello,

I have a silver mounted koumiya with the same symbol on every silver part.
The symbol is a ram's head.
I asked a woman that is born in Morocco and according to what she said this is a symbol for the former capital of Morocco, Fes.
If I am wrong please correct me.

Best regards, Helge

Hello, I'm seeking the same information. Swords & daggers page 30, by Mircea
Veleanu says, it is the mark of Sultan Hassan I (1873-1894). I'm wondering if it is an armory mark, silver quality? The mark appears on each separate piece.
A second one about 45 years younger has no marks for metal quality or the rams. Fez may well have been Hassan I s' capital. Any further info would be appreciated. Steve

Oh, second question do some hilt caps have exposed wood instead of being silver covered? Poorly phrased, please see second photo.

Ram Markings in silver

Is it likely the ram theme carried on with variations to identify time periods? I'm waiting for feedback from another Koummiya owner who seems to have some different marks with just opposing horns no head in side view.
Fez was Hassan Is HQ. David I've seen the 27 time reference in a thread in this forum recently. Thanks for the input that site may provide future assistance. Steve
