Hi Zamboanga,

Thank you :) Most kind of you.
Still learning my way around here.

However I have the pleasure of owning a very beautiful Moro Keris
http://www.arscives.com/cejunior/mys...oroKrisWeb.jpg

It is a late 19th. century piece.

Hope it shows. :)

Antonio Cejunior 11th March 2005 04:36 AM

With you as a moderator and my teacher on Etnographic weapons, it was but inevitable but also I claim for the full pleasure of being here :)

Gracias por tus bienvenidas. I am sure I'll enjoy this forum. Thank you so much for your warm welcome :)

Hasta siempre hermano ;)

Pardon me everyone, I can't help but talk a bit of bad Spanish. I wish I could speak Catalán :o

Will get back soon. Am really busy.

I'll add a welcome as well and wish that I was multi-lingual too.
Unfortunately, I'm only fluent in two languages, English (except near medication time) and profanity, all of the time.**grin**

As always, you are too kind, Antonio. :D

What little knowlege I possess was shared with me by the membership of this very board. I think you'll enjoy this place very much.

Best regards,

Very good to see you here, Antonio. I'm sure that you will add much to our discussions. Very nice kris — I look forward to seeing what else resides in your collection.

Welcome aboard.

Not really Andrew :) I always mean what I say, believe me :)
And it is really a wonderful atmosphere here. :)

Where was I all this time? :o :D
I am sure I will enjoy and learn something from all of you.
I already feel at home. Thank you for the great welcome. I am humbled. :)

Greetings Mark :)

Thank you for your kind words of welcome.
Actually I am in no position to discuss but to learn from you all.
I certainly feel a great inclination to Ethnographic weapons in both an aesthetic point of view as well as a genuine expression of culture.

I became a bit fed up with people wanting to define Art and Culture as static and authoritative forms of expression.

Fortunately we are at a point in time where Art and Culture is being shaken in a healthy way. Today when in Macau we choose an Italian restaurant or a Thai restaurant we are indeed making a cultural choice, and of course the same applies everywhere, though I strongly reccomend Macanese cuisine.

:p

I'll try however to learn from you all before I dare engage into virtual discussions.
He he, I may be one of the few guys who takes a "wake break" before getting back to sleep. :D

Best regards Mark, and thank you for your warm welcome. ;)

Salamat Poo Ian,

I am most touched an honored for your kind and warm welcome.
Your words are really too kind. I am attempting to learn a little and I am sure you, Mark and Andrew, as well as everyone else will surely help.

Coming from such a knowledgeable collector, your comment about my Kris humbles me. I couldn't help but buy it back in 2000.
My collection is now much humbler. I have a Dha or Dharb I bought from a site that Andrew most kindly pointed out and a Large Kukhri.

Here is the Dha

http://www.arscives.com/bladesign/im...n-scabbard.jpg

I understand that there may be a connection between the falcata and the Kukri. The other day I was watching Alexander with my wife and when he had an ox and was talking and moving around the animal I told my wife: he is going to behead the ox. The Ghurka still do it. And he did just that.

So I wonder for the Kukri is one of the most unlikely designs I have ever encountered. And of course it is not a belittling expression.

Kindest regards :)

Second, I do indeed need to learn a lot. Indeed.
