hi
just wondering if anyone would know of any information on this sword, age, area etc? it is roughly 30 inches long with a 6 inch handle and a cross t all covered in what looks like old weather aligator or skin. the crossguard is metal from what can be felt but the handle end is wood over possibly metal. the blade has a blood groove through it and it looks like possbily the metal of the blade has been hammered as layers can be seen on the spine.

well, alligator skin and the roundish pommel..... Sudanese

Yup! Ariel is right, another Sudanese anomaly, and these one off forms are pretty hard to localize geographically. Naturally the crocodile hide puts it in Nilotic Sudan regions and no telling where the well worn sabre blade came from.
Best regards,
Jim
