TOURIST KRIS FROM PHILIPPINES?
2 Attachment(s)
HELLO, TODAY I POST THIS STRANGE KRIS , ONE FRIEND SEND ME THIS PICTURES TO IDENTIFY THIS SWORD.
OPINIONS? THANKS CARLOS |
Carlos, i think we need better pictures, but i don't think this is a "tourist" kris. The blade looks beefy enough and i think i can just barely make out a seperate gangya and the markinkg on the blade where the baca-baca once was. I have never seen this style of hilt however and doubt it is original to the blade. Needs some work, but it looks like a "real" standard battle kris to me. :)

No disrespect meant but; this hilt bears a strong resemblence to a Ball & Claw chair foot .

I is indeed the foot off of an old piece of furniture, but it looks strangely at home on the kris, if backwards. Possibly brought home by a soldier without a handle, and replaced with whatever was at hand. As others have said, the blade looks very promising.

Yes, genuine blade and a throw-away "hilt-like object."
Please post pics after cleaning/reetching... BTW, these were sold as a pair about half a year ago on ebay and didn't got a lot of bids. ;) Regards, Kai |
