I have always like the Assam / Nagaland pieces though I am really focussing on the Phillipines, now. I was offered a similar sword recently and am glad I turned it down as I consider this one superior (and it was cheaper)

The blade has a "facetted hardened steel edge, the main section of blade displaying a finely forged band of pattern welded iron." --- Ashoka

Section of bear or tiger jaw. Ivory pommel inlaid with silver or pewter. Silver lower mount.

I would place it early 20th - late 19th c.

Now I just need to make one (or two) of those little steel stands like Erik Farrow makes so beautifully!

The first picture shows a more common dao battle bade that I will be posting soon.
