Afghan translation needed. Rifle & shamshir.
Hi, An American friend with a mutal intrest in the Mazar I sharif arsenals weapons, is looking for a translation on this old Afghan made martini.
We think the date is 1319 but what does the script say? any help would be appreciated. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/qwer3/maz.jpg Also noticed Artzi just sold this Shamshir on ebay with remains of the Mazar stamp {crossed cannons & base of one pillar.} just visible but made of sham wootz. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=005 http://www.oriental-arms.com/photos/extra/16/000316.jpg http://www.oriental-arms.com/photos/extra/18/000318.jpg http://www.oriental-arms.com/photos/extra/19/000319.jpg http://www.oriental-arms.com/photos/extra/20/000320.jpg Another form of weapon from this arsenal! So thats, Rifles, bayonets, kukri, cavaltry sabre, shasqa & now shamshir! I hadnt realised the Afghans produced sham wootz as well as ordinary wootz, & I find it fascinating that it was bieng made like that at the late victorian time period in agoverment arsenal. Or were they taking in blades from other sources & stamping them? Spiral |
No Afghan speakers in the house?
