Chinese dao for sale
 

I am offering this antique Chinese Niuweidao. It is in the condition in which I received it; it has obviously been restored. This restoration is not what I like best. The scabbard, which was probably previously wire-wrapped, has been repainted. The brass end pieces are preserved and polished, but the mountings for the carrying strap are missing. The grip mountings are also polished, while the cup guard has been repainted. The handle binding seems to be newly made. The blade has been polished, but still shows very fine pitting. The edge is quite blunt, likely due to removal of edge nicks. Still a nice Chinese dao, old/antique in all parts.
98,5 cm long inside scabbard, 92,8 cm without, blade 74 cm, 6,5 mm thick at the spine behind the handle. 1099 gram.
