Interesting Sword from the Baumann Collection in Rothenburg, Germany
8 Attachment(s)
When I visited the Baumann Collection in Rothenburg in Germany recently, one sword in particular caught my eye. There have been discussions in the past on the dubiousness of some of the items, but my intent is not to point out the obvious, but rather try to find out how much of this sword is actually genuine. The scabbard is most likely from Zanzibar/Oman. The scabbard chape most certainly is, and I am uploading the chape on one of my swords for comparison.
What I wonder is whether the pattern welded blade was original tot he scabbard, and later enhanced with the Alexandria arsenal inscription on one side and the gold inscription on the other. Is there even any way to tell? |
