Not African Spears, but then from where?

In 2013 Robert posted a spear Identical to mine. The Auction Company advertised them as African, but I doubt it.
If I had been at a European Militaria Show, they probably would have called them "European Peasant Halbreds," or at an American Civil War Show, " Confederate Pikes." I think Robert's thread proved them to be Southeast Asian and probably Vietnamese. Note; if anyone could prove them to be Confederate, I would be eternally grateful, lol. |

I am 98% sure that these spears come from the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

Thanks for the info, Ren Ren! To me, it reminds me of a European Boar Spear, so would I be correct to assume that it is for big game, such as a wild pig?

It's my pleasure, drac2k!
I think the design and size of these spears makes it well suited for wild boar hunting. The Central Highlands of Vietnam were once rich in wildlife, including such large and dangerous animals as wild elephants and tigers. Hunting has always been a traditional craft of the locals. They took their weapons, such as these spears, even when they went to work in their fields. |
