Knife ID #4

I visited and antique store yesterday and notice several different styles of knives and one sword that you folks here on this board seem to be interested in. I went back to the store today and took some pictures of the knives so you folks can educate me.

I am going to make a post for each knife. If I post them all in one post then things will get confusing to my education.

Here is the first knife. What is it?

What should I expect to pay for a knife like this? I am not looking for a specific value, but a range of values. I am looking for a price range like $50-$60 or $500-$600 or $5000-$6000.

I checked the forum rules and applying value only applies to on going auctions. I am looking for "Price Guide" values

DD, knife 4
Its a Kindjal.......my friend, its on the label ;) Looks to have a nice blade too...
The sword seems to be a re-hilted blade, probably European..... so far I haven't been able to ident. the 'scales' mark.

Sorry, D. No appraisals here, even ranges. If anyone wants to help, they can PM you the info.

It is a kindjal, most likely from North-Eastern Turkey.

Katana and Rivkin, thanks for the info.

Of course I saw the label. But this isn't my first visit to an antique shop, so labels are not always to believed!!!

How close is the label "1800 era Causcasian"? What was a knife like this used for adorment, ceremony, fighting all of the above?

Ugh, kindjals come up here now and then... You should find a lot of info searching for "kindjal". With your particular type I would specifically look for turkish, i.e. "Trabzon" and other like kindjals.
