Age of This Piece ?

Is this piece antique ; i.e. 100 years old ?
Somehow this doesn't look like a real fighting piece .
I would think that the attached tab would seriously hurt the hand if the katar was actually used .

This is certainly a newly made piece, identifiable by the stereotype damascus birdeye pattern, and the koftgari. However, it is nice ;)

No doubt: very, very new...
But in the same vein: I always had doubts about the real use of the unfolding katars(you know, when you press the bars together, the blade opens up in 3 segments). The only solid blade (central) becomes totally hidden and useless.
I suspect all of them started as 19th century bazaar pieces for the dumb "farangi".

Caveat emptor again ...

Rick and I talked by PM about this piece before it sold. We both thought the dating was off by a few centuries. Quite an attractive piece but not old. The price surprised me a little given the obvious newness of this one.

Very, very, very stereotipic modern kofgari and eyed damascus. Nicely made thou.

ehm, the price
