A brand new Puuko for sale

Greetings all,

I thought I might submit some pictures of a knife I made last year, modeled after the traditional Finnish pakka or puuko knife. The blade is Norwegian made ladder pattern Damascus, with Swedish Masur Birch on the handle, along with Black Palm wood and brass furniture. It's 7 1/2" long overall. This knife is available for purchase, the discounted price for Ethnographic Arms members is $500 USD, not including shipping. All of my knives come with a lifetime guarantee. You may visit my website to see more of my work, should you so desire.

Thanks and best regards,
Michael

NICE WORK!!
IT INCORPORATES SOME OF THE TRADITIONAL ALONG WITH SOME MORE RECENT INOVATION. THE WORKMANSHIP IS FIRST RATE AND THE CHOICE OF MATERIALS COOL AND ATTRACTIVE. DOES IT HAVE A SCABBARD? I ONLY COLLECT OLDER ETHINOGRAPHIC EDGED WEAPONS BUT STILL APPRECIATE SEEING WORK OF THIS QUALITY. IS THE BLACK PALM WOOD A NATURAL WOOD OR HAS IT BEEN DYED? EITHER WAY IT IS VERY COOL LOOKING.

Thank you very much, Vandoo. I appreciate your compliments. I was aiming for a general Scandinavian look, as you mention, a mixture of the traditional and modern. Hence the Finnish design, Norwegian Damascus, and Swedish Birch. My preference is to work with historical designs and update them, in order to make something that no one has before. There are folks out there that are interested in making precise replicas, and that's fine for them. My work tends to be uniquely my own.

No, as of yet, I haven't made a scabbard for it. I shall, likely, at some point. The Black Palm is purely natural, no dyeing or any other treatment was used on it. If you view the figure (grain pattern) lengthwise, it looks like a melange of tubes, but viewed on the end grain, it exhibits that very unique spotted structure that you see. Neat stuff.

I understand, but if you know anyone that's not as bound to older work, please do feel free to share the link to my website with them. And thank you in advance. BTW, retail on this piece is $650, I am offering a considerable discount to Ethnographic Arms members.

I've been making some nice Scramasaxes lately, and shall post one or two, if you're interested.

Best regards,
Michael
