Was this blade bronze brazed?

correct, that's exactly what I'd like to draw your attention here, I have seen several badiks and kerises lately, from bugis, and some of the old has some kind of gold - welded as "glue" (possibly) to weld cracks and some which used brass like that piece abova

is this a common practice ?

I could be wrong, but while this certainly is a Bugis style blade i am not convinced that it is actually from a Bugis smith.

I assure you it is from bugis smith, but not a master yet
