Another Gunong for restoration

I recently won this little (8.5") Gunong cheaply on ebay - even cheaper than yours Detlef :) Sadly no scabbard.

Despite the rather poor sellers images I believe it to be a nice older example. I will post better images when it arrives.

My main dilemma is what to do about the handle, as someone in the past has foolishly drilled a hole through it

Ah Ha, Now I know who it was that outbid me on this gunong. :D If was not for the hole that some A##%*&e had drilled through the hilt I would have bid higher, but as I already have way too many restoration projects now I only put in a very modest bid. I am very happy to see that you were the one who won this. Be sure to post photos of it when restored.

Best,
Robert

Yes Russel, I would guess the same age like Robert estimated my one, so you are correct. Frankly said I would let the hole in the handle. I also would like to see pictures after you have given it some care.
Congrats for a nice addition to your growing gunong collection.

Regards,
Detlef
