Albanian Yatagan
4 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
I am new to this forum but have a strong interest in arms from Greece, Albanian and the ottoman empire generally in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. I recently purchased a Yatagan from someone living in northern Albania. He claimed that this weapon was in his family for a number of generation. Though simple, I think it is a beautiful piece. It also has a makers mark which should be visible in one of the photos and I wonder, does anyone know anything more about the sword from this? I'd be interested to hear any thoughts you all have. Thanks! |

Salaams thdrivas Although this weapon is not my area I am also intrigued with the Yatagan style. Thank you for posting... I have a catalogue from the Qatar Museum with a beautiful Yatagan in it which I will add later. I can also recommend Forum library as an excellent resource for research. Just type in Yatagan. Best of luck and welcome to the Forum. Regards, Ibrahiim al Balooshi. |
