Pacific or African Club for ID

I bought this club as an unknown. The seller claimed it was from the Pacific but couldn't remember which island. My thought were possibly PNG or Solomon. The wood is very heavy. It is entirely possible that it is African instead.

This is from New Hebrides (Vanuatu), sometimes called a "pig killer".

Looks a nice piece - congratulations.

It is a A Malakula (Malekula) or Ambrym Pig-killing club from Vanuatu

I've figured it out and found others including on this site. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=13391

Very nice pig hammer. Not only does it look like it has had good use it is also very nicely carved with good lines. I would imagine that every village would have one or two of these in use today. That is not to say that it is a common object. A wonderful item to add to a collection, very desirable. Here are two pictures from "Arts Of Vanuatu, Hawaii University press."
