Considering the information given in the previous thread, I assume this knife is of fairly recent mfg? That's what I thought when I got it but, couldn't pass it up, in this condition. Is there anything to add, as to area, and time of mfg? Fittings and hilt, are plated brass.

I think it is a little bit older as the other one and have much better quality (sorry Imas).

a lot nicer than the previous one. rounded luks, diamond x-section, grip shape all say earlier in the 20th c. than the other late 20th one. might be worth a light color etch to see if it has an inserted hardened edge.
they show up like this one of mine: http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s..._5Enhancer.jpg |
Thanks for the info guys. Good to know, it's at least as old as I am, maybe older. :D I'll check into doing an etch.

I hate to disagree with everyone, but this too is recent. The engravings, the way the okir is done on the "silver" or silver plated mounts on the scabbard, the style all point to a recent manufacture, again probably in Marawi City. It is made to look old. The luk curves, though more rounded than some, are still not right for an older piece.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Better than most tourist pieces however. |
Hello all,
No hurt feelings here at all. The opportunity to be able to get a fair and honest opinion on a piece is greatly appreciated. |
Yes, i agree with José. In fact, this one could be even newer than imas'. It's just a somewhat higher quality product. Check out this thread i started a while back. I've seen a bunch of these since and they are brand-spanking new.
