Caucasian Sword: is it real?

Just was sold for a very pretty penny. But I have an uneasy feeling it is a modern creation. Look at the blade: flat, shiny, with two very boring fullers and no markings. I also did not like the anonymous bidding and the fact that the seller never answered my query whether the sword was truly old. The silverwork on the scabbard and the handle is very nice, but so incredibly fresh....

What do you think?

For me each single part is new and over average quality produced except the blade, strength and usability of which is very suspicious with its too thin and pointed tip section. I dont think a real customer won it.

In my opinion it is definitely post-1970.

The pictures are poor for my tastes. That being said, I think I agree with you that the silver work looks new and not too striking, good, but not striking. I also vote new.

I would also agree that from these pictures this looks much like a very recent reproduction. The scabbard is of so so standard, if you like that sort of thing but the blade I find rather unpleasant. I like the things I collect to have been used and I do not mean chopping people to bits. Tim

We have talk about them few years ago. These swords are still in production as Kubachi silverwork. Is supposed that they are made with the old excellent techniques, but there is a big difference. It was even a "Kubachi Store" in the Internet that now I cannot find it. Their price is not cheap.
