Keris for ID and comment

Good Morning/Evening to all,
I have just purchased this Keris, has the appearance of age and has a nice pattern on the blade. My ignorance of Keris' is vast and so I shall be pleased if anyone can tell me anything at all about it.
Thank you in advance for the expert advice to come.
Brian

The ukiran or hilt is from Madura. I think the complete keris is from Madura. The wrongko or ship of the scabbard is missing. The gandar or the remaining piece of the scabbard has been carved by some idiot, on a dark rainy night.
The blade looks good to me. You should have the blade stained with warangan. I think you will get a lovely pamor. The next step is trying to get a good scabbard for this fellow. If you succeed with that you will have a very fine Maduran Keris.

If I can ask another novice question regarding this keris: Is it typical for Madura-style keris to be without greneng and kembang kacang? If not geographic origin, what then decides whether these features be present or not?

Hope somebody has the time to help. :)

Best wishes, - Thor

It is typical for this form of blade to be without those features .
This is just one of many 'forms' that exist of the keris blade .

Does that help ? :o

In other words, there are many Madura keris that do indeed have both greneng and kembang kacang. :)

Thanks Rick, and David - your elaboration helps a lot - huge thanks to you too!

- That's why I'm for now, still only a looker at keris and not a collector! :D

Best wishes, - Thor
