Recent Keris

3 Attachment(s)
Recently picked up this Keris quite affordably.
It was quite dirty and I did a brief cleaning of the scabbard fittings, stabilized the throat and did an initial cleaning of the blade but have not had time to re-etch it.
Comments welcomed.

It is a very recent Sumatra keris, cheaply worked. Sorry for my open words but since you asked for opinion.... :)
When not worked for tourist maybe as dress keris for a wedding. You don't need to stain it.

Regards,

Detlef

Detlef is right. The blade has the same quality as the cheap javanese tourist keris often found here in Holland. Same as the dress. Very good example to learn how it shouldn't be.

Maybe one comfort, we all started with some mistakes :D

No worries. I knew it was no great aquisition. The price point simply could not be ignored. I have only recently begun to shop for Keris.
I was told it was likely Sumatran and used as an inexpensive everyday carry. Similar to the inexpensive pocket clip knives you see in the USA now days :D
Many thanks for the comments!
