Picked this up in the early 90's in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I was told it was circa 1950's. Camel bone handle and sheath. I have now treated it to stop the rust. The blade sits loose in the scabbard, but otherwise seems genuine. Comments, especially as to origin?

A Moroccan Koumyya dagger by the look of it . The scabbard end is more upturned than usual.

I agree totally - Moroccan koumiya.

Yerr, Moroccan. Lots of them show up around the gulf and some inexperienced sellers cannot tell the difference between them and daggers/knives of the area. Some are just plain dishonest :-)

 Hi Dave
Moroccan koumiya with a nice and fancy look, made recently for local tourist market :p beautiful object for decoration, after some effort to give to the blade an acceptable aspect ;) best regards à + Dom |

Thanks to all of you for your help on this. I guess it is my lesson learned.
