AXE or zaghnol ?
3 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone
What should classify this weapon as axe or zaghnol? |
A very grand uncle of the Bullova family! I've not seen a full metal one with a Zaghnal type backspike.
Very unusual. Is the 'moustache' axe blade sharp? |
The axe is somewhat sharp also has concelled spike that un scews from bottom/it was missing so i had a blacksmith make me one.I have not seen another but im sure their are many odd weapons that where made.

Zaghnaxe ? Axenol ?
It's nice, I have quite a few Bullova but have never seen one like this. Roy |
I thought of this post whilst reading through 'By my sword and shield' by E. Jaiwant Paul today.
Page 84 may have the answer: "Sometimes a battle axe was combined with a zaghnol and wascalled a tabar-zaghnol. It was double-headed, the broad blade on one side and the pointed one on the other. The shaft of the battle axe generally measured 90 to 120 centimetres and the head of the axe five to six inches measured vertically"Hope this helps! |
