Hi,
I'll give this a go. I think the numbers are Persian or similar. This one is 1532. Regards, Norman. |

Hi,
The top one is 1334 and the bottom one is 1402. Regards, Norman. |
Hi,
The only number that makes any sense as a date is 1334 which is equivalent to 1916 Western, the others are probably inspection/armoury no's or similar. I'm sorry I cannot help you with the script. Regards, Norman. |
Hi everybody
Norman translated perfectly all dates, as they are in Persian form easy to deduce that the "cartouche" are in the same language ... farsi (فارسی) because, Iran and Afghanistan share the same language there is a translator for the "farsi" ... in the room ?? :p à + Dom ps/ I translated the word just under the date 1334 SANA (سانا)either YEAR |
No one knows?
|
get a better picture of the second picture from the top and I'll translate the whole thing for you.
|
Unfortunately the image is only as such ((((

but I cannot do better  à + Dom |
ok, let's start from dates and then go to the rest. The inscriptions have some inconsistancies to me, I might be wrong. First, فی سنة هجری ۱۳۳۶ in the bottom the number ۱۴۰۲. To me 1402 could be just a number( maybe serial number), it can not be the year of manufature(that would make the age 31 years and that just can't be), why it is there who knows, the year 1336 now it is 1390 that is 54 years ago. Then there is another number ۱۵۳۲ 1532 that is a serial number engraved after manufacturing. Now here comes the inconsistancy, the main text reads, حبیب الفرمان اعلیحضرت سراج الملة و الدین that is the text from swords made during the time of King Habibullah (seraaj ul melat e waddin) but the dates indicate that it is made during the time of King Mohammad Zahir, it is possible that he called himself the same (seraaj ul melat e waddin) but highly unlikely, they never copied someother kings title, to my knowledge. hope it helps.

they are no dateS ??? just a single ... one :p and easy to know where it is ... it's mentioned down below, by the word SANA either YEAR the others numeral data, haven't that indication, so, could be; armory's inventory, serial's number, etc. ... à + Dom |

Some new info for you. The sword is roughly 96 years old, it was made during the time of Amir Habibullah, they used the lunar years back then, so the 1336 is not hijri solar as I mentioned before but hijri lunar.
