Unique Yataghan/Bichaq for sale

9 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone --

For sale is a very nice bichaq made from a cut-down yataghan. The blade is dated 1227 (1812), and also has a sort of thistle design on it. The handle appears to be made of solid cast silver, with evidence of gilding where there is less wear (along the stone fittings and on the ears). The handle is in excellent condition but is missing its stones (probably were corals). At some point what was obviously a very high-end yataghan must have broken, and the blade was re-shaped into its current form, with a very modest scabbard made to fit it. There is an interesting brass repair(?) at the tip.

This would make a very unique piece with a lot of history for any collection. Or, if you're into that sort of thing, the handle could be used to upgrade an existing yataghan blade whose handle may not have stood the test of time.

Asking $300 or best offer, which includes paypal fees and priority shipping to the continental US (shipping will be more for overseas). Please PM if interested or for additional pictures.
